CREATIVE DIRECTION

As Group Head of Design, my main function was to create from scratch a new corporate identity, developing a new modern look and feel in an extremely competitive market, within the square mile of the City of London, whilst taking into consideration the history of over 250 years in Insurance.

Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, I fulfilled a hands-on creative director role, overseeing a large team of designers managing the brand, enforcing a consistent approach to quality in all methods of media – including printed materials, internet, intranet, exhibitions, etc.

SELECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

 

I was responsible for 3 additional creative heads and their teams, operating in Asia, Bermuda and Australia. This includes the day-to-day management of the brand, offering design advice, quality management, recruitment, appraisals and succession planning.

All design, production and management was handled internally, supporting over 500 staff, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Other projects include the creation of the Annual Report and Accounts, which is extremely rare from an in-house studio. This included the concepts, design, writing, printing and distribution of over 600,000 copies for which we won the UK printing awards for “Best Annual Report” in July 2003

On a personal level, I gained a great deal of knowledge in the insurance and re-insurance market, which was reflected in the quality of our collateral, both written and printed, to a level that competed with peers such AIG, AON and SwissRe.
